In 2019, the CDC announced that every 1 in 59 children in the United States is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Breaking that statistic down, even more, brings us to at least 31% of those children with an ASD also having an intellectual disability. Given their unique experiences, this often leads these children with autism to become adults that face challenges and struggles in a world not entirely built for their sometimes different needs.
